We are not accustomed to seeing institutions from the Global South establish themselves in the North. And yet, the Canadian branch of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University has taken root right here, in the heart of Montréal—one of Canada’s and North America’s leading academic cities. This choice is neither trivial nor coincidental. It reflects a worldview grounded in cooperation, reciprocity, shared experience, and trust in the power of human, scientific, and cultural synergies.

UM6P Global Hubs Canada represents the North American extension of an African university firmly focused on the future—committed to cutting-edge technological agendas, shaped by the continent’s grand challenges, and guided by a strong commitment to sustainability.

Our approach, however, remains pragmatic and deeply humble, driven by the conviction that it is by working alongside the best—and we know that Canada counts among the most inspiring—that we can accelerate our technological ambitions and build meaningful, impactful, and lasting partnerships. Our presence here is meant to build active bridges between the innovation ecosystems of Morocco, Canada, and, more broadly, the African continent. We believe that by combining perspectives, valuing complementarities, and mobilizing collective intelligence, we can jointly tackle the great challenges of our time and respond to the increasingly pressing needs of modern societies.

UM6P Global Hubs Canada is envisioned as a platform for openness and exchange—a space for dialogue, action, and creation. We dedicate it to the Moroccan and African diaspora, whose energy, expertise, and commitment represent an invaluable driving force for both their host and home countries. To all those who wish to reconnect, contribute, share knowledge, or simply engage, we open this space as a place for connection and collective momentum.

Beyond the diaspora, we also reach out to individuals, institutions, researchers, entrepreneurs, educators, and innovators—from here and elsewhere—who wish to co-create with Africa, guided by principles of mutual impact, respect, and trust.

This project can only grow by drawing strength from diverse perspectives, open collaboration, and genuine alliances. Finally, I would like to express my deep gratitude to all our partners here in Canada—universities, research centers, companies, public and community actors—who have welcomed us with kindness, trust, and generosity, and who have warmly expressed their willingness to collaborate with UM6P Global Hubs Canada. It is thanks to these first gestures of openness that we have been able to lay the foundations of this journey.
