PDAC 2025: UM6P Global Hubs Canada — Building Canada-Africa Bridges for Sustainable Mining Innovation

On the occasion of PDAC 2024 (Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada) — a major global gathering for the mining industry — Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), through its Geology & Sustainable Mining Institute (GSMI), proudly showcased its commitment to applied research and responsible innovation.
This participation reflects UM6P’s global vision and the strategic role of UM6P Global Hubs Canada in strengthening ties between Canada and Africa by fostering concrete synergies in the mining sector — a key pillar of development for many African nations.
Professor Mostafa Benzaazoua, Director of GSMI, led a strategic roundtable and the UM6P Global Opportunities Workshop, highlighting cutting-edge scientific work focused on sustainable mining transition. The initiatives presented aim to combine operational performance, environmental preservation, and positive community impact. Based in Montréal, UM6P Global Hubs Canada serves as a platform for bilateral collaboration, connecting institutions, researchers, and industry leaders from both continents to co-develop solutions tailored to African realities and enriched by Canadian expertise.
