UM6P at the Proxfin Seminar: Toward Africa–Canada Cooperation for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth
On October 2, 2025, UM6P took part in the Proxfin Seminar, organized in Montreal by Développement international Desjardins (DID) and its international network Proxfin, under the theme “Supporting MSMEs to Drive Sustainable Economic Growth and Development.
The event brought together key stakeholders in inclusive finance, economic development, and social entrepreneurship from Africa, Latin America, Asia, Europe, and Canada. It aimed to collectively explore strategies to strengthen the resilience and performance of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the context of economic and environmental transition.
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), through its Social Innovation Lab (SIL), contributed to the discussions by sharing its experience in designing hybrid ecosystems for social innovation. This approach—based on collaboration between academia, businesses, and local communit ies—promotes the emergence of impact-driven economic models that combine inclusion, sustainability, and performance.
The participation of the UM6P Global Hubs Canada and SIL teams in this seminar reflects the University’s commitment to strengthening bridges between Africa and Canada around innovative solutions for inclusive growth. In a global context marked by shared challenges—such as the green transition, youth and women’s empowerment, and MSME adaptation—cooperation between the two innovation ecosystems stands out as a strategic lever for sustainable and equitable development.
