UM6P Global Hubs Canada: A Strategic Gateway Connecting Morocco, Canada, and Africa
On September 13, 2024, in Montréal, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) officially launched UM6P Global Hubs Canada, its first North American branch, during a ceremony that brought together a wide range of academic, scientific, and institutional partners from across Canada.
This meaningful and symbolic moment marks a new milestone in UM6P’s international trajectory and reflects its ambition to build strong bridges between the knowledge ecosystems of the North and the transformative dynamics of the South. UM6P Global Hubs Canada is more than just an overseas representation — it is a platform for innovation, collaboration, and talent mobilization, designed to foster tangible synergies between Canada, Morocco, and Africa. By leveraging the strength of Canadian academic networks and the expertise of the Moroccan diaspora, this hub aims to co-develop collective solutions to the technological, environmental, agricultural, and industrial challenges facing the continent.
This strategic initiative is structured around several key pillars:
- Collaborative and interdisciplinary research, in areas such as artificial intelligence, sustainable agriculture, clean energy, and geosciences; - Skills development and continuing education, through exchanges, joint programs, and learning pathways tailored to African and North American contexts; - Support for technological entrepreneurship, aligned with continental priorities and local value chains; - Active engagement of the diaspora, as a lever for co-development, knowledge transfer, and global impact. Located at the heart of Montréal — a global innovation hub — UM6P Global Hubs Canada embodies a clear vision: an Africa that connects, creates, and shines, powered by its talents wherever they are.
